Interview Summary

Larry Clark, a former TVA engineer, begins the interview by discussing how he was hired at TVA. Clark also discusses his educational background in engineering. Clark describes his involvement in the creation of a water quality management plan at TVA. The interviewee also discusses water pollution issues in the Tennessee Valley throughout the 1960s. Responses to these problems by the TVA and state governments are explored. Clark's TVA career path is outlined. Clark's work on a water quality study in the Tennessee River is examined. Subsequently, Clark details his work as the Program Manager of the Regional Water Quality Management Program. Solutions proposed for trash in the Tennessee Valley waterways are considered. The interviewee talks of how he and his staff determined sources of water pollution in the Tennessee Valley. Clark explains why the Regional Water Quality Management Program ended and what replaced it. Clark also talks of the uniqueness of TVA. Clark tells of his most vivid memories of TVA. Clark's work on a flood control issue in Spring City, Tennessee is described. To conclude the interview, Clark provides an overview of his work in water supply issues.
