Tennessee Valley Authority Retiree Association Oral History Project
Project Summary
These interviews were conducted under the auspices of the Tennessee Valley Authority Retiree Association (TVARA) between 2016 and 2021. Interviewees are former TVA employees with knowledge and experience in different program activities and technical specialties related to TVA’s regional resource development mission roughly between the years 1970 and 1995. They discuss their career paths at TVA and the nature and impact of their work over time. The collection provides a fascinating chronicle of the variety and breadth of TVA’s activity and work in community and economic development, river and natural resources management, and agricultural and fertilizer development. The interviews tell TVA’s story as a catalyst for change in many different areas of endeavor, including how TVA changed through these years and how TVA has impacted the seven-state Tennessee Valley area, the nation, and communities abroad. This project received financial support from the Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc., a TVA retiree organization.Project Code
