Interview with Kathryn Hermanowski, September 24, 2020
Project: Peace Corps: COVID-19 Evacuated Peace Corps Volunteers Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Kathryn Hermanowski served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the health sector in Primero de Marzo in Cordillera, Paraguay from April 2019 to March 2020, at which time she was evacuated due to COVID-19. During her service, she worked to improve the community's sex education program and make it accessible to more students. She developed several sex education presentations and gave the first one just shortly before evacuation. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards with friends and going on long walks with both the people and dogs from her community. Since coming back to the United States, she has maintained contact with friends from Paraguay, including community members and other volunteers. Her time in Paraguay has confirmed her desire to pursue a degree in nursing, and she is currently completing the per-requisite classes. She hopes to return to her community either before or after completing her degree in nursing.Interview Accession
