Interview with Irwin H. Sonne, April 4, 1977

Interview Summary

Dr. Irwin H. Sonne was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1888 and attended Manual Training High School before attending the Louisville College of Pharmacy. He then attended the University of Louisville Medical School before joining the army during World War I and beginning his own general practice. In this interview he compares his experiences at the Louisville College of Pharmacy and the University of Louisville Medical School, speaking about his professors, classmates, and the quality of his education. He talks about his experiences in the army during both World War I and World War II. He describes the methods he used to treat patients when they could not be taken to hospitals. He talks about how the medical profession has changed since he began practicing medicine.

[Although the Louisville College of Pharmacy later merged with the University of Kentucky, Dr. Sonne never attended UK.]
