Interview Summary

Bobby Osborne describes his early interest in music and the musicians who influenced his playing and singing style. He talks about beginning to play with the Lonesome Pine Fiddlers, his later work with Jimmy Martin, and his work with his brother Sonny as the Osborne Brothers. He talks about his songwriting and his songs being covered by some of his idols, including Flatt and Scruggs. He describes in detail various recording sessions, including their hit "Rocky Top." He describes the development of their high lead trio style of harmonizing, as well as various accomplishments throughout their career, including playing at the White House for President Richard Nixon, becoming members of the Grand Ole Opry, and two of their songs becoming the state songs of Tennessee and Kentucky.
