Interview Summary
Dr. Geri Spurlin was one of 14 women in a class of 58 students. The class had the largest number of women graduates of any class during the first ten years of the college. She grew up in a small town. Her mother was a housewife and her dad was a farmer. Spurlin was a first-generation college student at Eastern Kentucky University. She discusses growing up, her years in college and medical school, and her professional career. Dr. Spurlin specialized in obstetrics and gynecology during a time when few women pursued the specialty. Her private practice was in Richmond, Kentucky where she provided services for local women and college students.Interview Accession
