Interview Summary
Charles Shelby came to the University of Kentucky in 1942 and graduated in 1948 after leaving to participate in World War II from 1944-1946. In this interview he discusses choosing to major in agriculture, and describes some of his favorite and least favorite professors. He talks about his membership in the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and other social groups and events on campus. He discusses the mood on campus during World War II, and describes how the university had changed when he returned from the service in 1946. He talks about politics on campus, as well as the attitudes toward women and African American students. He discusses how his college experiences affected his life.Interview Accession
