served as a Torpedoman 2nd Class aboard two submarines; mentions duty on the USS (Pargo?) - went on four war patrols (areas of action - China Sea-- Yellow Sea-- Philippines and Japan); talks about service on board the USS Paddle (went on nine war patrols) - describes sinking the Japanese ship (Shingo?) which carried American prisoners of war-- tells another story about an American prisoner of war escaping from a sinking ship; describes patrolling the Yellow Sea - dodging mines-- talks about suffering through a depth charge attack-- screening process for submarine duty (the USS Paddle sunk two man of war ships and ten merchant ships)Interview Accession
