American College of Nurse Midwives Oral History Project

Project Summary

This project documents the establishment of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the experiences of nurse midwives associated with the college. Topics discussed include the Maternity Center Association in New York; the Frontier Nursing Service in Kentucky; the collaboration of the Frontier Nursing Service with the University of Kentucky College of Nursing; the development of the Catholic Maternity Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and the International Confederation of Midwives, as well as changes in midwifery, midwifery curriculum development and religious aspects of midwifery.
