Interview Summary

Anna Walker discusses her childhood in the neighborhood surrounding Bourbon Avenue in Lexington, Kentucky. She talks about her parents and siblings, and says that they grew up in a poor, working class environment. Walker discusses the race relations in Lexington during her childhood and says that people just accepted segregation as the way things were. She talks about attending high school at the segregated Dunbar High School in Lexington. She discusses her decision to attend the University of Kentucky, her expectations, and her experiences attending classes. She talks about social activities, faculty, and race relations at UK. Walker attended UK for one semester before leaving to get married.
