Interview Summary
Mark Hurte talks about his decision to move from the small town of Lancaster, Kentucky to the bigger city of Lexington, Kentucky. He tells the story of how he almost immediately became involved with Bradley Picklesimer and Chris Sloan and the drag scene of Lexington. Hurte talks about dancing in drag on stage with bands at Café LMNOP and the creativity in the music scene at the time. He talks about the eclectic mix of people at Café LMNOP. He describes some of his favorite drag performances. Hurte talks about the impact of his experiences at Café LMNOP and in the drag scene on his later career as a teacher and advocate for students with disabilities.Interview Accession
