Interview Summary

Dr. George Park attended the University of Kentucky after graduating from high school in 1914, then went on to attend medical school in Chicago, Illinois. In this interview he discusses his first impressions of UK and the "big city" of Lexington, Kentucky after growing up in Richmond. He talks about his life as a student at the university, including his classes, professors, social activities, and participation in organizations and athletics. He talks about students' attitudes, and the relationship between the university and the surrounding community.

Park discusses some of the professors who influenced him, and compares the various university presidents who were in office during his years at the university. He talks about the function of the library and how it has changed over the years. He talks about how World War I affected the university and his own career. He discusses his continued contact with the university and Kentucky despite moving to Chicago.
