Interview Summary
Sam Brosilow was born to Jewish immigrant parents who fled Russia around 1900. The Brosilow family lived on 11th and Cherry Street before moving to 22nd and Lehigh Avenue. He began working in the men's clothing industry at the age of thirteen and remained a cutter. Throughout his career, he supported the unionization of the Philadelphia clothing industry and was an active member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. Brosilow was a tough individual who stood up to anyone, regardless of their position and worked for many different companies, including After Six, The Spector Brothers, and N. Snellenberg & Company.Interview Accession
