Interview Summary
Joseph D. Fowler was born on March 3rd, 1923 in Peonia, Kentucky. Fowler joined the United States Navy on September 17th, 1942. Fowler was part of five invasions on the LST 174 during WWII. He spent time at Camp Perry, the Great Lakes, and the Mediterranean Sea. Fowler reached the rank of Chief in the Navy and received a good conduct medal, an American area ribbon, one bronze star and the victory medal. Fowler was discharged December 11th, 1945 at Great Lakes, and then he returned to Louisville, Kentucky and worked at Dupont for many years.Interview Accession
