Interview Summary
Lucius Barker is an African American political scientist and William Bennett Munro Professor of Political Science, Emeritus at Stanford University. Barker discusses his academic career; receiving his PhD from University of Illinois in 1954 and faculty positions he held at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, University of Illinois, and Washington University. He also speaks about his time at Harvard Law School as a postdoctoral fellow. Barker comments on political science as a discipline, including behavioralism and publications written by himself and some of his colleagues. His involvement in the American Political Science Association and as editor of the National Political Science Review is discussed, particularly in regard to creating opportunities for African American scholars.Interview Accession
