Interview Summary
Robert "Bob" Ericksen served as a Peace Corps Education Volunteer in Iran 1973-1975. His training took place in the town of Borujerd in Central Iran where he learned Farsi and teaching skills. His site was in Northeastern Iran in the town of Bojnurd of approximately 40,000 people. He taught English to elementary and secondary students during his service. Bob discusses his love of living in a small town, exploring local customs, socializing with local people, and often being invited to tea or dinner. He also describes being a gay man in Iran during that time. His Peace Corps experience helped change his life trajectory to that of service and international student advising.Interview Accession
