Interview Summary

In this second interview, rifle company commander Louis Stockton Bower shares more anecdotes about his service in Normandy. He describes his refusal to surrender to the Germans, his struggle with an enemy soldier who attacked him in the night, and his evacuation from the combat zone after suffering a concussion. Bower reflects on the different atmosphere just a few miles from the front lines, and recalls the deaths of several friends and colleagues. He also looks back on his training in England and Northern Ireland.
