Interview Summary

Joel Lovan discusses his early musical training and the circumstances of his joining the Men of Note big band in Lexington, Kentucky. He mentions influential musicians in the band, the make-up of the ensemble, musical repertoire, and audience characteristics. He talks about his 38-year career with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, his first experience with the University of Kentucky marching band, and his present role with the UK Alumni Band.
