Interview Summary
Harriet Rose describes her family and her ancestry. She explains her job position at the University of Kentucky and her early days as a teacher in Maysville, Kentucky. Rose recounts meeting her husband, Stanley, and their marriage 11 weeks after they met. After World War II Rose and her husband made the decision to move back home to Lexington.Rose grew up in Lexington and describes her elementary school and junior high experiences there. Rose details her participation in the gentile choir at her school and the Jewish choir at the temple. She also discusses the temple and her roles at the religious school throughout the years. Rose discusses her experiences with anti-Semitism as a young adult. Rose recalls Rabbi Grafman and his influence at the temple. She recounts construction at the temple and the future of the temple.
