Interview Summary

Creech begins the interview by talking about his life and education, specifically how he became involved with WRFL. Following this, Creech talks about how he met Kathleen "Kakie" Urch, one of the core founders of WRFL. The interviewee then talks of the political climate of the University of Kentucky in the 1980s. Next, Creech begins to discuss the politically liberal radio show he produced on WRFL called "What's Left in America." Creech's political activism during the Gulf War is then described. The process of digitizing the show is examined, as well as prominent guests to appear on the show. The reactions of listeners to the show, and some of the primary issues discussed on "What's Left in America" are also considered. Former University of Kentucky President Otis Singletary's contribution to WRFL is detailed, as well as notable scandals at the University in the 1980s. The primary political issues that received coverage from the show in the 1980s are also articulated. Creech then gives his opinions on political issues of the 2000s. To conclude the interview, Creech briefly mentions his role in getting space for student organizations in the student recreation center, as well as his opinions on the current state of the American health care system.
