Interview Summary
Wieland discusses his birth in Louisville, Kentucky and later attending Cassidy and Picadome Elementary Schools in Lexington, Kentucky. He attended Lafayette High School, was coached by Ralph Carlisle, and was a starter on the 1949 State Basketball Runner-up team and also the 1050 State Basketball Champions. He was honored by several District, Regional, and State Tournament teams and All State teams. He went on to play basketball at Baylor University and was player/coach of U.S. Service teams in Japan.Interview Accession
