Alberta Labillazo, a teacher at the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCAPA) in Lexington, KY., was interviewed on June 6, 2022 as part of the Stories of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Kentucky Oral History Project. Labillazo, a Filipino American, describes her upbringing in Kentucky, her path to teaching theater in SCAPA, and her sense of community in Kentucky. She goes on to talk about her thoughts on anti-Asian discrimination in the US, her feelings on seeing other Filipino Americans succeed at the national level, and self-identity as a Filipino American.Interview Accession
