Interview Summary
This interview with audio engineer Jim Anderson begins with a discussion of Anderson's background in audio engineering. It then moves on to discuss his time with National Public Radio (NPR). Anderson then talks about copying European recording techniques and fellow audio engineer Edward Greene. He talks about the studios in which he worked and the effects of recording on the performance of musicians. Anderson then talks about other studios in New York (N.Y.) and his session work as a freelance audio engineer. The two discuss reclusive audio engineer Rudy Van Gelder and the future of audio engineering. The interview then moves on to a discussion on recording rap music and the formation of record label Blue Note Records. Anderson moves on to talk about innovations in sound delivery methods, such as compact discs. The two talk about the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the culture of recording studios.
