Interview Summary

Greene identifies the weaknesses and strengths of development plans in Kentucky and the limitations of the state's ability to prevent development of protected land. He briefly discusses the importance of getting elected leaders and community leaders to pay attention to environmental concerns, specifically in Lexington, Kentucky. Greene discusses the development of a "golden triangle" of environmental development and protection, with a focus on the Golden Triangle of Louisville, Lexington, and Cincinnati. He talks about the role of a voting public that can influence legislative agendas when the majority of concerned environmental voters may be seen as opposed to the interests of farmers. He also makes predictions for the future for federal farm programs. He discusses labeling Kentucky farm products as local state products as a way to educate the public about how agriculture is directly supporting Kentuckians. Greene discusses the decline of farming and farmers in Kentucky due to education, profitability, and technology. He identifies his inspiration for activism and discusses his love for the beauty of Kentucky.
