Interview Summary
Elmer Lucille Allen became the first African American chemist at the Brown-Forman Company in 1966, where she held the title of senior analytical chemist. In this interview, Allen discusses her experiences in higher education at Louisville Municipal College [now called Simmons College of Kentucky] and Nazareth College [now called Spalding University]. She also discusses her work history from 1953-1997, her experience with desegregating colleges and jobs, and a bit about her family life.Interview Accession
