Interview Summary
Grover C. Brummett served in the Philippines with the 192nd and 194th Tank Battalions, Company D. He discusses the bombing of Clark Field, the invasion of Lingayen Gulf, the Battle of the Big Pocket, and the eventual surrender of the Americans to the Japanese. Brummett survived the Bataan Death March, and was held at Camp O'Donnell and Bilibid Prison before being taken to Japan on a "hell ship." He describes his experiences as a prisoner of war, including the living conditions, the guards, and the work details.Interview Accession
