Project Summary
The Plantation series includes interviews about sugar and cotton plantations primarily in Louisiana but also in other southern states. Subjects include the lives of African Americans on the plantations; African American folk artist Caroline Dormon; the history of the American South; Melrose Plantation; Little Eva Plantation; Winter Quarters Plantation; Laurel Hill Plantation; Allendale Plantation; plantation bells; and the Cane River Creole National Heritage Area. The series also features recordings of sessions of the 1996 First World Plantation Conference in Baton Rouge.Project Code
