Interview Summary

Ken Hechler, a West Virginia congressman, discusses the political corruption surrounding the Mingo County, West Virginia elections in the 1960s. He talks about the Fair Elections Committee and the issues they were trying to solve, specifically in Mingo County. He talks about antipoverty legislation as well as the influence of the VISTA and Appalachian Volunteers programs. He discusses the results of the work done by the Fair Elections Committee in West Virginia.
