Interview Summary
Jim Howe played football for four years for the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He started at the right halfback position in 1944. After being drafted into World War II in 1945 he returned to play, starting as halfback again for the legendary coach Bear Bryant. He was a key contributor for the Wildcats in their first-ever bowl game, The Great Lakes Bowl in 1947. He also played a key role in Kentucky’s Orange Bowl game against Santa Clara in 1949. He speaks about his relationship with Bear Bryant, George Blanda, and Babe Parelli. Howe also talks about his relationship with Adolph Rupp in his one year on the basketball team in 1944.Interview Accession
