Interview with Claude Joseph, June 29, 2010
Project: Haiti Memory Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Claude recounts how he experienced the earthquake before, during and after the event. He says how the State and the police behaved during the process. He talks of his pride as a Haitian and how Haitians are closely related to Africans. He rejects the theories of bombs or the end of the world as the cause of the earthquake. He believes the poorly constructed houses and the lack of training were the main reasons the natural phenomenon devastated Haiti, therefore the State should build earthquake-resistant buildings and train the people to respond to such events.Interview Accession
