Interview Summary
Andrew Kimbrough, (Sri Lanka, 1984-1986; Education Program) who spent 15 months teaching future English teachers in the Tamil area of Sri Lanka, describes the impact of the civil strife in Sri Lanka on his teaching and his students before he was forced to leave, as well as the impact of the Peace Corps experience on him. He talks about his subsequent work in film and theater, and becoming a professor of theater at the University of Kentucky and how in this setting, his sense of biculturalism as invaluable. He also discusses other aspects of his life and educational background both before and after joining the Peace Corps, including his travels and teaching in China, doing his Masters of Fine Arts in theatre in Moscow, and meeting his wife who is from Shanghai while doing his doctorate at Louisiana State University.Interview Accession
