Interview Summary

Anderson begins the interview by discussing her involvement with the effort to create an alternative, student-run radio station associated with the University of Kentucky during the 1980s. Anderson talks of Kathleen "Kakie" Urch, one of the primary founders of WRFL. The issues of convincing the university's administration to approve the radio station are then explored. The interviewee also describes more people who helped in the establishment of WRFL. Possible sources of funding for the radio station are examined, as well as the challenges of obtaining an FCC license for the station. WRFL's first broadcast is also briefly touched on. Anderson concludes the interview by assessing WRFL's role within the University of Kentucky landscape.
