Interview Summary

Mr. Gaither recalls his family history, educational experiences in both all white and all black segregated schools, and dropping out of school in the 9th grade. He recounts his enlistment in the Army and service in Vietnam, the criminal activities he engaged in to support his drug habit, and his rehabilitation at the Lexington Judicial Clinical Research Center. As Assistant Director of Micro City Government, Mr. Gaither discusses Ronald Berry, his attendance at the University of Kentucky, and the attitudes of African American women towards their male counterparts.
