Interview Summary
This interview includes a history of Claiborne Farm, provided by someone else. Hancock discusses how he got started in the horse industry as well as the processes of breeding, raising, and breaking race horses. He notes some of the successful stallions and derby winners that have resulted from both his and his father's hard work at Claiborne Farm, as well as the organizations that the farm is a part of. Hancock also describes how the horse industry is changing and how the racetracks and state governments can ease the tensions of the business. The famous horse Secretariat is brought up several times throughout the interview. Hancock also talks about the risks of owning a horse farm, in which the death of a fifteen-year-old horse named Buckpasser is mentioned.Interview Accession
