Interview Summary
This is an interview with George Lusby of Georgetown, Kentucky. At the time of the interview, Mr. Lusby was retiring as Judge-Executive of Scott County, Kentucky after nearly 30 years in office. Mr. Lusby was born in Georgetown during the Great Depression and was a long-time educator before entering public office. During this interview, Mr. Lusby discusses his life in Georgetown and how the community has changed over the decades, especially since the arrival of the Toyota plant in the 1980s. He discusses teaching in the public school during the 1960s and tensions between white and black students. He talks about his time in sports and as a referee and coach. He also talks about his decision to run for office and reflects on his political beliefs and the future of Scott County and the city of Georgetown.Interview Accession
