Interview Summary

A third-generation horseman, Henry White was the manager of Plum Lane Farm from 1957 to 2002. His father Cy White, moved to Lexington in 1928 to manage Elsmeade and later, in 1946, Plum Lane. White learned the business from his grandfather who raised Thoroughbreds in Hopkinsville, his uncle George White who he worked for as an assistant trainer for two years, and his father. He shares stories of growing up in Lexington, the people in the industry he associated with through his father, and friends including Dr. Ed Fallon. Clients and trainers discussed include Mary Hecht, Preston and Elliott Burch, and Paul Mellon. White also discusses working with the LeBus family who owned Plum Lane.
