Interview with Dasha Rittenberg,
Project: Voices of the Holocaust Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Dasha Rittenberg describes the upheaval that the German invasion brought to her family in Bedzin, Poland. As she explains, her parents sent her to Szczecin, Poland, which was soon overrun by the Germans, forcing Rittenberg to return to Bedzin and, with her family, face the rising persecution there. She explains that her family remained in hiding until, after the Final Solution was carried into effect, she was deported in 1942 to Blechhammer concentration camp, where after two weeks she was moved to a labor camp in Schatzlar (Czech: ?acl??), where she remained until the end of the war. She describes her return home after the war, and she reflects on why God would allow the evils that were perpetrated during the war.Interview Accession
