Interview Summary

Oral history with Dr. Ed Hughes, current president of Gateway Community and Technical College. Interview begins with Dr. Hughes' educational history and work history at community colleges before starting as director of Hazard Community College in 1985. Hughes discusses his accomplishments while at Hazard as well as the challenges faced by rural community colleges. Interview outlines growth of campuses in the region as well as Hazard's relationship with the University of Kentucky until its merger with KCTCS. Concludes with overview of programs available at Hazard as well as his views on the role of the community college in community economic development.
