Interview Summary

Mrs. Haverstock discussed her role in the drafting of House Bill 1; her work in the Workforce Development Cabinet that led to her position as first KCTCS counsel; her service on the transition team and the atmosphere of the early days of KCTCS; the first (failed) presidential search and the eventual hiring of Michael McCall; her early meetings and impressions of McCall; and the relationship between the community and technical college ?silos? and their eventual, community-driven consolidation; the complicated personnel system that was left in place under the HB1 reform; and early, chaotic meetings of the system Board of Regents.
