Interview with Brian Campos, August 27, 2020
Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Brian Campos grew up in a diverse community in the Bronx, New York City. With a Black mother and Puerto Rican/Dominican father, he was used to living within a multicultural environment. He graduated from Niagara University in commerce and Spanish. He was open to serving in the Peace Corps wherever needed. He accepted a posting in Cameroon in the Community Economic Development sector. Brian appreciated the open-ended pre-service training which left flexibility as to what he may be doing once at site. His site in Gandal was in the North which is more arid and predominately Muslim. He lived in a compound in a small house along with four other households. Brian worked as a consultant to clients of a micro-finance organization as well as an educator on entrepreneurship. He spent his vacation time getting to know other regions of Cameroon. He shares his perspective on diversity issues both within Peace Corps and Cameroon.Interview Accession
