Interview Summary
Stewart reflects upon his friendship with Robert Penn Warren, which began as a result of the interviewee's affinity for the Southern Fugitive writers. Stewart's early impressions of Warren while socializing at John Crowe Ransom's home are detailed. The evolution of Stewart and Warren's friendship over the years is also documented. Music as a topic of conversation between the friends is highlighted as well. Stewart's role as an academic critic and reviewer of Warren's writing is remembered.
