Interview Summary
Former Kentucky Governor Paul Patton discusses his experiences with the coal industry before his political career, as well as his involvement with coal legislation. He tells stories about his near-death experiences working in the coal mines, including some stories about his employees getting injured, and the strike that forced unions out of Pike County, Kentucky. He also discusses how he got out of the coal mining business, the various companies he owned, and his relationships with politicians in Kentucky that helped get his foot in the door in regards to politics.Interview Accession
