Interview Summary
Lyman Johnson talks about receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Kentucky. He talks about his family visiting for the ceremony, describes the graduation ceremony, and talks about a showcase of his memorabilia on display. Johnson discusses being accused of being a Communist and being investigated for many years by the FBI. He describes his first meeting with the FBI and their questioning. Johnson talks about the incident in which Carl Braden and his wife Anne Braden, a white couple, purchased a home in a white neighborhood for a black family, the Wades. He talks about the Wades being threatened and their home being shot and bombed, which Carl Braden was accused of.Interview Accession
