Interview Summary
In this interview, State Representative Jim Callahan, who was also a former mayor of Southgate, Kentucky discusses his tenure in the local government of northern Kentucky. He details his experiences with the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire, one of the most deadly nightclub fires in U.S. history, and how it has left its mark on the community even today. He spends time on his victories as mayor, specifically the improvement of Southgate's economic climate and the development of the city's departments, before explaining how the Kentucky League of Cities has assisted in the city's ongoing development, and elaborating on Southgate's complex sense of community identity.Interview Accession
