Interview Summary
Natasha LaDawn Humphries Murray attended the University of Kentucky from August 2000-2003 and received a bachelor's and a master's degree. In this interview she discusses her family and educational background, her childhood recreational activities, and the expectation from her parents that she would attend college. She began her college education at the University of Louisville, and discusses why she transferred to UK. She talks about the reputation UK had within the Black community at the time, and discusses her first impressions of the campus environment. She talks about feeling unwelcome and isolated as a minority student, and says most African American students spent their free time off campus. She talks about some of the incidents of discrimination she faced during her time at UK. She talks about her dislike of the large class sizes and the lack of students' access to their professors. She discusses ways the university could improve its current lack of diversity.Interview Accession
