Interview Summary

This interview with professor and journalist Sharif ul Mujahid begins with a discussion of his early writings for the All-India Muslim League before the founding of the independent state of India. He talks about the various authors that he knew that were also involved in the movement for the independent state. Mujahid then goes on to discuss his educational background and his scholarship overseas, which included studying at Stanford University. He also talks about covering the various elections that occurred in Pakistan in the 1960s and 1970s. Mujahid then discusses his biographical background and his involvement in publishing the papers of Hector Bilitho, which was disapproved of by the Ayatollah of Pakistan. He then goes on to discuss the founding of Pakistan, including a lengthy discussion regarding Mahomed Ali Jinnah and Muhammad Iqbal. He then briefly discusses his childhood in Chennai (India) before ending the interview with a discussion on the qualities that he feels the ideal leader of Pakistan would possess.
