Interview Summary
In this interview, Walter D. Huddleston discusses his childhood in Kentucky and his family life. He talks about his education, being drafted into World War II, and his experience as a tank gunner. He talks about returning from the war, attending college at the University of Kentucky, and beginning his career in radio broadcasting. He talks about how he became involved in politics. He describes his campaign for state senate in 1965 and his experience as a state senator. Huddleston talks about his relationship with Wendell Ford which led to him being named Ford's campaign manager in his run for governor of Kentucky.
