Interview Summary

Johnson discusses his thoughts on giving interviews about his award from the University of Kentucky. He talks about his connections with other civil rights leaders and his opinion on various civil rights organizations and leaders from both the 19th and 20th century. He led demonstrations at restaurants involving his students and talks about their efficacy. He describes the cost of activism in his personal life, as well as the way black leaders have taken risks that benefit other people more than themselves. He spends the last part of the interview talking in depth about his moral philosophy and opinions on religion, mainly Christianity.
