Interview Summary
Cetrulo is the former assistant director of the Writing Program of the Department of English at the University of Kentucky. She briefly describes growing up in the west end of Louisville and states that it has changed drastically. Cetrulo attended Morehead State University between 1968 and 1972 and graduated with a major in English and a minor in French. She came to the University of Kentucky for graduate school and received a master's degree in December of 1975. When she finished her master's degree, she decided to teach instead of going into the PhD program. Cetrulo talks about some of the awards and honors she received as a student and as a faculty member. She then discusses the importance of education in her family, especially among the other women, as well as the careers of her family and friends. Cetrulo explains how she chose her career. Cetrulo discusses authors, and compares Stephen King with Edgar Allan Poe. She also describes the typical job in her field and elaborates on what her position entails and what skills are necessary in her field.Interview Accession
