Interview Summary
In this interview, audio engineer Clair Krepps and interviewer Susan Schmidt Horning discuss Krepps' career with Capitol Records and MGM Records. Krepps recounts working with such notables as Duke Ellington and Paddy Chayefsky. Krepps then discusses the technology he utilized as an audio engineer and the ways in which recording changed over the course of his career. Krepps talks about leaving the music recording business to pursue a career recording soundtracks for major motion pictures.Krepps then discusses the various unions involved in the recording business and talks about the training he received in his profession.
Finally, Krepps and Schmidt Horning discuss fellow audio engineer Emory Cook and his hearing loss that was the result of years in the recording business.
